September 30 What have I been up to?I have no clue... I did start planning the girls birthday parties. Since they are both born in the same month, I'll have to spread out the parties or go bankrupt...LOL! Just teasing. They are pretty easy going with the party ideas.
Billy is getting better everyday. It's a relief, because he is driving me nuts. I know we both want him to go back to work, but when he does I'll be sad to not have him around all the time. He did take off a week. I know it would've been great if he wasn't hurting so much. He's on some antibiotics and the swelling is going down. It was scary there for a couple of days. I don't know if I've mentioned that already. People lose limbs when they don't take care of infections like this. Other than that everything is fine.
Still doing my scripture class. Which is wonderful and I totally love it. I was always scared to read the bible but now I don't feel so intimidated. I've also taken a couple of weeks off from work, but on Tues. I will go back for a couple hours, while the girls are at school. Then of course, eventually I'll go back for the weekends. Which is a drag (the funny part is that I really do love my job). I went to the farmer's market with Annarae. It was fun walking around super early in the morning. Of course we got cotton candy and sadly to say that was our breakfast too
..lol! So I'm a wonderful mom right?!
I do have to confess to feeling a little overwhelmed when Billy was feeling bad. It was just that with all of the extra running around and taking the poor guy places and getting RX's filled, along with what I usually do all week was just....Aaaahhhhh. But now i'm fine and I pretty happy that things will be getting back to normal. If i haven't mentioned that already...lol.
I post-poned my foot surgery till Oct. 18th. A day before my birthday. It had to be done, there was no way both Billy & I could handle his thing and my thing all at the same time. I'm not really relieved, I just wanted to get this over and done with but now another couple of weeks to go and then I will be cyst-less. Yay!
![]() September 25 Wah, Wah, Wah...LOLIt's not lymphadema that Billy is suffering from. Thank goodness! It's just an infection. Which is yucky and it doesn't take away the pain. We had to go to the ER today to get him some antibiotics thru I.V. That was not fun, but this hospital here in Parker is really nice. So it's not like it was horrible or too horrible. They even gave us a thank-you note for choosing them. I thought that was really funny and nice. Hopefully that will help and the infection will go away. It's kinda scary but at the same time I don't want to be afraid because I just want to have positive thoughts. That's all that I have to say about that.
September 24 In and out over the weekend!Okay so we have been running around since Friday. Well, kind of....poor Billy is not feeling too well (lymphedema). Meaning that this weekend I took off from work to make sure that Billy got better but also to just hang with the girls.
It was fun, we went to the museum on Saturday. They were doing this "spooktacular" theme, so we got to make spider hats, face painted, scavenger hunt and other things too. We (Annarae and I) went to mass that evening. On Sunday we went to the farmer's market and bought some little goodies. Later that afternoon we (the girls and I) went to the park to get some of that energy out from just watching movies all day.
It was a film fun fest for us...'Blades of Glory', 'Hoot' (Billy and the girls watched this on Thurs. night), 'One night with the King' and finally 'Dream Girls'. I really liked all of them. The 'One night...' one was romantic and I think that's my favorite of all.
Friday, Johnna's class went on this neat fieldtrip. We went to the Plains Conservation. It was alot of fun. We got to see how the pioneers lived on the plains long ago. We saw some farm and local wild animals and Johnna touched a snake. We had lunch and then that was it.
I will be on a leave of absence from my work while we figure out all of what is going on with Billy. He's feeling a little better today, but keep us in your thoughts. When it rains it pours. Just when you think, "Okay everything is under control then it all goes haywire." But you know that's the way things are and so you have to do the best that you can with what is given to you!
PS. Adding some pix of all that's been going on. Even one with Annarae's new haircut.
September 19 Cyst-a
The dreaded cyst has come back into my life. Sexy ain't I! lol. No there was this cyst on my foot. It really isn't that bothersome or noticeable, but it can bug me after awhile. So it reappeared about a week ago and now I'm going to have surgery to remove it at the beginning of October. It's a real simple procedure. Just a little numbing on my foot and then they just cut it open and remove it. It's the recovery part that I'm dreading. I have to wear one of those boots..I guess it's a soft cast. I have had that before when I fractured my other foot. Anyway I have to have that on for about 4 weeks and I have to make sure I don't get the stitches wet. So it's either sponge bathing or getting this rubber sock or something that can protect my incision from getting wet. What a pain! But at least that little bump will be gone and it won't come back.
Today was totally fun. I had Annarae in my religious ed class. Her teachers were sick so Julie (the teacher) and I took over that class too. The kids were so well behaved and it was nice that I didn't overplan and let things go by the book. That was actually the best class we've had. So now I know don't try to do a whole bunch of stuff cuz, we just don't have the time to get it all done.
September 18 The New MeI've changed the overall look of my space. I finally decided to go for something more "hello kitty".
Over the weekend, Annarae got some gum in her hair when she was playing around with the gum. Anyway, we had to cut some it out and so today I decided to make her hair all match the two snipped areas. We went for like a shoulder length cut. It's layered and looks super cute. At first I felt like crying. I thought to myself, "her hair, her hair, what are you thinking Jennifer!" But then after all of the hair was cut and I saw that she loved it. I thought it does look cute and now i wonder how Billy is going to react to it. He always wants to keep the kid's hair long. Poor Billy, he is losing that battle. Well except for me. Could never go short, I've tried it and it's scary! lol!
September 17 It's the starterThis morning was so frustrating. Thankfully, (lol) Billy felt sick this morning because he was home. My truck wouldn't start. I was getting so angry. Annarae ran in and got Billy's keys so that I could take her to school. That's why I was thankful that Billy felt sick today. Because, without his truck we definitly would have been late this morning.
Then midday Johnna and I were going to the Wildlife Experience (museum) to see what was going on over there. The truck wouldn't start still. I have always thought that when there's alot of humidity the truck doesn't start. Which was the case all day, but it does usually start after awhile.
Billy came home and we had to tow my truck to the auto shop. That was an experience in itself. I have never been towed before, so when Billy hooked me up and said "Remember, your the brakes." I misunderstood him. I thought he said press on the brakes. So silly me pressed the brakes all the way to the shop. The good thing is that the place is right down the street. I did think I smelled my brakes burning. When we got there, Billy said, "Why did you hold down the brakes the whole time?" "Well you told me too," I replied. Long story short, it was all a misunderstanding on my part mostly, but I blame him...lol! Hometown (car shop) said that it was the starter and would be about $400. Which is not what I wanted to hear, thank goodness Billy talked to them. lol! So hopefully the thing will be done. We just got new muffler and cat on it like 2 weeks ago. So this is what we get when we get a used 10 yr old vehicle. It was my mom's and she gave it to me as a gift. So I'm not really complaining. She took great care of it and everybody that has checked it over has said the same. Those I hope are the only problems we'll encounter this year.
I feel so helpless without my own vehicle. I just want to go take it for a drive, but at last I'm vehicle-less. It's only a day I know, but this is the time you think of all kinds of stuff to do or errands that could get done. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. ![]() September 16 Work weekend and companySo here we are on another Sunday evening. This weekend Billy's dad and brother, Simon visited us from NM. It was a nice visit. Of course, I did work on Saturday. On the Friday that they arrived was rather hectic.
I was trying so hard to have the house cleaned and the linens washed and put back on the beds. I did get half of the linens done and the house was clean. I voluteered at Annie's library at school. Of course Johnna went to her half day of school also. The in-laws arrived earlier than expected, which made everything seem to get disorganized. But all was solved, when I let them in and was able to head to Annie's school to help.
Annarae's library is totally parent-run. It's neat that this being done, but also I wonder why. I guess maybe it's because it's a charter school, who knows. I probably will ask this next Friday when I'm back there. The school requires 20 hours of voluteer time per family. I think that is great. But I also stay at home all week so it doesn't really take up a lot of my time, when it's an hour here or there. I don't know what I would do if I was working during the week and was not able to get in all the hours. They do have take home projects for the parents to do, but I think that would be alot on top of taking care of family and home and working. Yikes, it's exhausting just thinking about it.
On Saturday, Billy took the girls to the Taste of Parker and there was something else going on at the park. There wasn't alot going on at either event Billy said. The girls had fun and I think it was nice for his family to get to see a little more of why we really like this area. Bobby (father-in-law) and Simon left midday today. I wished they would have stayed a little longer. Billy really enjoys having his family come visit. They don't do that very often, so when they do, Billy and the girls just love it!
September 13 Funny NiniJohnna is too funny. Well you know how that goes when your 4 and everything is just questions. Anyway, the other day at the dr.'s office she was asking me:
"Do we eat sea urchin?" She inquired (we just saw a sea urchin in the aquarium in the waiting room).
"We don't but some people do." was my answer
"Do we eat fish, mommy? Yuck!" Johnna stated
"Yes sweets, we eat fish and you like seafood, remember shrimp, yum." I replied.
"How about unicorns, do we eat them?" She gigled.
"Well unicorns are real, but if they were, we wouldn't because they would be horses and we don't eat horses." I answered
"Oh okay, what about people, do we eat people." Johnna laughed
"No we don't eat people, some people may, and that is called cannibalism, but we don't do that," I explained.
"Oh, okay" Johnna ended.
So this was my explaination to my 4 almost 5 year old. Sometimes I wonder why I have to be so technical...lol! I could have easily just said "no, we don't eat people." But for some reason I had to clarify what eating people would be called...lol! Anyway
September 10 Billy woesFriday Sept. 7th was Billy and my anniversary. How did we spend it you ask?
Billy had a golf tournament so he spent it golfing. I took the girls to McDonald's for dinner. I read a book while the girls played on the playground. I was so livid. 1st, he told me that he would be home for us to go out either to have dinner or something. He did not show up til' 8:30pm. It was a little late to do anything since the I had not called a sitter. Billy thought this whole situation was a little funny. Which made things even worse. How could he have just blown off our Anniversary?
He knew it was that day, he gave me a card and a gift. The funny thing was that this time I thought it was gonna be great. He gave me some nice wood candle holders (wood being the theme for the anniversary year we were celebrating) and some candles. I thought what a great start to a great day.
I, too knew he had the tournament. When he came home to pick up the clubs, I mentioned to him that "I bet you won't be home til' after 7." He said that's not going to happen. Anyway, he should have either decided not to go and instead spent the day with me or went and just told me "okay i'll be home late. Happy Anniversary!" I would have been mad if he had done the latter one, but at least I would know how selfish he's gonna be. Instead, I allowed myself to believe that he was going to take my feelings into consideration and make our day special. Oh well! To top it off, when I called him, he had his phone off. So he definitly didn't want me to interrupt his fun.
The funny thing too, was when my mom and step-dad were here. He tried to get Jesse (stepdad) to be on his side, that playing golf was a totally excusable excuse for being late on our anniversary. Jesse told him that he was surprised that I didn't wrap a golf club around his head. LOL! After that he really didn't say much, but acted like he was a dog being abused. He made all of us breakfast and anytime I would give a suggestion of what could be made or done, he would act like he was totally being inconvenienced or that I was trying to make things harder on him (like I was out for revenge).
All together, I was mad and I still am. We (meaning Billy) have now moved on from being apologetic that he blew off the day, to being mad that he had to be sorry about hurting me. It makes me soooo mad! I'm sad too, but definitly i'm mad! Anyway, thanks for listening to me vent!
Jen September 09 Fiesta!!!Well maybe not a fiesta, but we did go to the fall festival at the church today. I helped with the spin-art booth, for about an hour. That was a good enough amount of time for me. It was so windy and the art papers were flapping wildly in the wind. Plus the paint was just so messy. It was fun and tons of kids made some really cool designs. But, i was totally happy when my hour was up..lol! My mom also came into town from New Mexico. She showcased her jewelry at the marketplace they had at the festival. Authentic Navajo jewelry, my mom is full native american so that makes me 1/2 navajo. She is so talented. I truly wish I could have at least half her artistic talent. She designs silver, weaves, crochets and is great at sewing. She did make my wedding dress. Which was not an easy thing, since I'm so picky and demanding...lol! Anyway, here is a small selection of her jewelry:
We wondered around for about 3 hours until we thought the storm was coming in. Annarae won a cake at the cake walk. Johnna got her face painted as you can see. We had some great food. They had this delicious wine cooler and super yummy corn on the cob. Of course, I could not resist the funnel cake or the cotton candy. The girls and Billy had some great food too! On Saturday, we celebrated the Virgen Mary's birthday. That was the 1st time we did that and it was pretty cute. We sang her "Happy Birthday" and said a prayer. Then we cut the cake and ate it with some ice cream. I got the idea from this book that I have on my list. It's like Catholic Home or something like that. It has all kinds of neat ideas how you can share your faith with your family in a fun way. I think my mom and step-dad will be heading back home either tomorrow or Tuesday. We had our usual Yahtzee tournament. My mom is a huge Yahtzee fanatic and Annarae is becoming one. I too, like to play the game. But the dice don't always roll the way I like them too. If you've ever played this dice game before, you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. For those that have not played Yahtzee before, it's almost like a poker game played on dice. That is pretty much the best way I can describe it. You should try it sometime! September 06 Scripture Class This year I've decided to broaden my mind. I joined a Scripture class at my church. It really is great. There is so much that I don't know and even some that I do know but I did not have to full meaning. I hope to get the as much as I can out of it. Of course being there, I realized that alot of the other people there were taking this class for the 2nd time. So who knows how long I may have to take the course. Of course, if I did take the class twice, I would definitly know what I'm looking at when reading the Bible. Anyway wish me luck!!!
The other blog of Johnna's day at the Pavilion. If you can't see the pix. They are also in the photo album "Playing in a blog near you". Hopefully you can see them there. Now thankfully I know that i can't do the blogs from that other app. I was playing around with. Thanks for letting me know, Tressie! But I with some thinking (kind of) I realized that I can do it a different way...as far as the pix go when adding them to my blogs. So funny how you do things the hard way and then in the process or sometimes in the failure of it, you realize the easy way of doing something. That's called irony I believe...LOL! Mission: Possibilites
September 05 Day-trippin' at the Pavilion
September 04 How photogenic I am!
This was the process of my profile photo! Hope this brings a smile to all those that are as unphotogenic as I am...lol! Jen September 03 Labor DayI feel so guilty that I didn't really know why we celebrated Labor Day. But after watching the news tonight I am now in the know. The girls asked me several times "What's Labor Day?" Sadly, my response was "Good question! That's what you should ask your teacher tomorrow!" (See Tressie, this is why you get some odd questions from the kids, I bet) It's like the "Where do babies come from?" question. Sometimes all they want to know is not how or why they are made but where a baby is located. I always try for the simple approach first. Especially with Johnna, she is so curious. Funny too, some of the questions she comes up with are crazy! I should start writing them down and make a list...they crack me up!
Anyway, Billy and I went on seperate adventures today. Mine was not a real adventure. I just took Annarae to the movies. We saw Hairspray. It was pretty funny. Annarae definitly liked the music and dancing but some of the content she had questions about it. We then met up with Billy and Johnna at Olive Garden.
They (Billy and Johnna) went to the Butterfly Pavilion. That place looks like lots of fun. Johnna loved it. She got hold a tarantula and a butterfly landed on her. Definitly next time we trade kids, I'm taking Johnna back there. I would love to see butterflies, not so sure about the spider though. Billy did take some pictures so I will get them on here sometime in the future.
My day did start unbelievably early. I woke up at 4:30 AM. I ran to Walmart around 5 AM and picked up some eggs and some Halloween decorations. It was kinda neat to be one of the only few customers in the store. Of course, I had to take a nap mid-morning. Pretty much the rest of evening I've felt kinda tired but really just plain full. We had way too much to eat at the Olive...lol! My little nickname for The Olive Garden. Silly huh? I don't know why I like to nickname stuff! See ya! Jen |
